Bix Beiderbecke 100th Anniversary Tribute
Per chi ama il Jazz, Bix Beiderbecke è una figura epica, ma non sono molti a sapere quanto il suo repertorio, lo stile e le formazioni di cui egli ha fatto parte abbiano influenzato il Jazz a venire. Nella sua breve vita dimostrò un incredibile talento, che lo portò ad essere considerato uno dei più grandi improvvisatori della sua epoca. Un omaggio a questo grande artista, attraverso l’utilizzo di sonorità originali dell’epoca (tra cui oltre alla cornetta, quelle del clarinetto in metallo, C-melody sax, sax basso, banjo e chitarra acustica) e cercando di dare una nuova luce ad alcune composizioni tratte dal suo repertorio, anche per mezzo di nuovi arrangiamenti assolutamente inediti. Il programma è completato da alcuni brani originali che ricreano le atmosfere degli anni venti filtrandole attraverso le esperienze più moderne. Il progetto si inserisce sulla linea già tracciata dal primo disco, inerente la valorizzazione della componente poli-culturale nella genesi del Jazz. Continua così il percorso della Tiger Dixie Band che partendo dal Jazz degli albori, crea un ponte tra la tradizione e il tempo in cui viviamo.
For jazz lovers, Bix Beiderbecke is an epic figure—but few truly know how deeply his repertoire, style, and the ensembles he played with have influenced the jazz that followed. In his short life, he displayed an extraordinary talent that led him to be considered one of the greatest improvisers of his time. This project pays tribute to this remarkable artist through the use of original sounds from the era—including, besides the cornet, instruments such as the metal clarinet, C-melody saxophone, bass sax, banjo, and acoustic guitar—while also shedding new light on some of the compositions from his repertoire through entirely new and original arrangements. The program is enriched with a few original pieces that recreate the atmosphere of the 1920s, filtered through modern musical experiences. This project follows the path set by the band’s first album, which focused on highlighting the multicultural roots in the genesis of jazz. Thus continues the journey of the Tiger Dixie Band, which—starting from the early days of jazz—builds a bridge between tradition and the world we live in today.
